The Semantic Web in Action
Six years ago Tim Berners-Lee, James Hendler and Ora Lassila unveiled a nascent vision of the Semantic Web: a highly interconnected network of data that could be easily accessed and understood by any desktop or handheld machine. They painted a future of intelligent software agents that would head out on the World Wide Web and automatically book flights and hotels for our trips, update our medical records and give us a single, customized answer to a particular question without our having to search for information or pore through results. De komst van cloud agents en het attention web
In een artikel over de toekomst van de desktop bericht Nova Spivack over de verschuiving van informatie naar aandacht. De grootste uitdaging van het web is niet meer het vinden van informatie, maar het op de hoogte blijven ervan. De hoeveelheid informatie is inmiddels zo groot dat onze hersencapaciteit onvoldoende is om die te kunnen bevatten. We ervaren information overload. Daarom zullen we meer moeten vertrouwen op tools die ons helpen aandacht te hebben voor de juiste dingen. We gaan van een web waarin we zelf speuren naar een web waar cloud agents het speurwerk voor ons doen. (Frankwatching, 26 februari)
